The power of your words

Many times it is easy for us to get frustrated with something that seems difficult, and say something to the effect of "I can't do it", "that's impossible", "I'll never make it."

What we don't realize, is that by saying this words, we create a self-fulfilling prophecy.  Your words have real power, and constantly taking jabs at yourself is only going to give your ego more power, and hinder your self-confidence.  You should always watch your words, because when they are spoken, you are putting that energy into motion, whether you intended to or not.  It is even believed that your thoughts can cause the same effect.

Now, obviously it may not necessarily be an overnight process to retrain your mind to not use these words, but you can start to take baby steps.  When your ego rears its ugly head and fills you with the ideas that something is "too difficult for you", take that phrase and change it into something more positive.  For instance, "that may be a challenge, but I will really feel accomplished when I complete it".  This statement shows that you intend to reach your goal, and that while it may have obstacles, it is not out of reach.

This is something that I have been working on myself, and I figured I would share it.  Remember, the only person that can keep you from doing something is YOU!!!

My Daily Devotion

Many followers of the craft have certain daily magickal routines to connect them with their spiritual self and to dedicate time out of each day to give thanks to spirit.  There are lots of things I try to incorporate into my daily practice, but here is one that I have stuck with the most.

My Daily Ritual

Each day, I like to hold a candle that I reserve just for this ritual, and hold it in my hands.  I meditate on it for a few moments and concentrate on the candle receiving only pure love and positive energy.  I say the following prayer, and light the candle:

Goddess and God of the eternal balance,
I thank you for blessing me with this day.
I pray that you will grant wisdom to my mind,
Strength to my soul,
And compassion to my heart,
So that I may walk the path of the ancient ones this day.
Allow me to live each second as if it is sacred,
Each minute as if it is magick,
And each day as if it were my last.
Give me courage through my struggles,
For the most beautiful rainbow follows the storm.
And remind me that love is the most powerful force
that I possess,
So that I may walk with you,
In perfect love and perfect trust,
In this lifetime, and others yet to come.
Blessed be.

I try to use the candle with this as much as I can, but I am no stranger to saying this prayer at any time the thought comes to mind: while driving, in the shower, any time you want to be reminded of the beauty that is your spirituality.

Preparing for Reiki Level II

I am super excited right now because I am going to be attuned to Reiki Level II this week.  It has been an interesting experience since Level I and I am eager to be able to do long-distance healing sessions, especially since I plan on moving in the next couple months and still want to be able to treat my family and friends.

In preparation for these long-distance healings, I have prepared something I am very proud of... a Reiki doll!  Many Reiki practitioners will use a teddy bear or pillow or something to use as a substitute during the scanning and healing process, as it helps to have a focal point to determine what areas need the most attention.

I gathered my supplies and made my doll and it looks great!  I used white felt and drew a basic human figure, and cut out two of these.  I then drew the chakra symbols on the felt with fabric markers.  I also sewed on top of these different gemstones corresponding to each of the chakras.  I sewed the two halves of the doll together and stuffed it.  I filled it with polyester stuffing as well as herbs corresponding to the chakras, such as myrrh, patchouli, sandalwood, vetivert, and lavender, and a couple drops of essential oils, before sewing the doll completely.  It looks (and smells) great!  Too bad I have to wait a couple weeks before the attunement process will be finished in order to use it, but it will be a worthwhile wait.

Blessings,
